Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson is the daughter of British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby (born in Paris) as well as Chris Watson (born in Paris). As a young girl of just five years old her family moved to Oxfordshire and went to an Oxfordshire-based Dragon School. Emma was inspired to be an actor when she was six. For several years she was at the Oxford branch Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. The school taught her singing as well as dancing, and also acting. Emma's debut film appearance came with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in 2001. It broke all records in beginning-day and weekend-opening sales and became the top-grossing movie of the year 2001. Reviewers have been highly acclaimed of the film and the performances of its three major young actors. The popular British daily The Daily Telegraph called her acting performance as admirable. Emma won the Young Artist Award as the Leading Young Actress for an Feature Film. She was later nominated for five awards for her work in the film.
